Message from Mrs. Stamer

Wow!  What a kick-off we have had to Boosterthon. The students attended grade level pep rallies and had weekly huddles in their classrooms. The excitement as they see the progress on the fundraising is out of this world for these World Changers. Currently we have raised almost $27,000.00. They found out at their kick-off pep rallies that if we reach the goal of $40,000 they will get to make me into a human sundae. Every time they see me they let me know that they will surely be making me into a human sundae. Keep the momentum going, we are looking forward to making updates to our playground. The children have already shared so many ideas with me. Thank you for all of the donations. They are greatly appreciated!!!

Personal devices are to be powered off during the day. Watches can be set to "school mode", but are not to be used for calls or texting during the school day. If a child is sick or needs to contact home, they will be able to call from the office. In the event a child is using their phone during the school day or their watch for communicating, the teacher will hold the phone or watch for the day. In the event it happens a second time, the phone or watch will be held in the office for a parent or guardian to pick up.

Message from Mr. Ontiveros

Hello Forest Road Families,

During the weeks of October 16th and October 23rd we will be conducting our mandated intruder drills. The State of Illinois and District 102 both require this type of drill twice a year, one of which is accompanied by local law enforcement. The drill that will be conducted the week of October 23rd will be done jointly with the LaGrange Park Police Department. Their purpose is to provide support during our security check of the building and provide feedback regarding our process.

The overall goal of these drills is to focus on what students and staff should do in the event of an intruder/lockdown situation. Please note: This is not an intruder simulation. Students will practice being out of sight and sitting silently in their classroom with the lights off. The only sounds students will hear will be footsteps in the hallway and the turning of their door handle during the drill to check to make sure the door is locked and that everyone is safe and secure in their classrooms. This drill will take about 10-15 minutes, just enough time for us to check each room.

Parents do have the option of excluding their child from this drill. If you choose to have your child not participate in this drill, please call our front office at (708)-215-6400 or email fr-office@dist102.k12.il.us.

Have a good weekend everyone,

Mr. Ontiveros
