Totem

Roadrunner

Message from Mrs. Stamer

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. We have had such a great week back to school. The students seemed well rested and ready to get back to work. It is hard to believe we only have 3 weeks left until winter break. As we close out November and our month celebrating Native Americans, I wanted to share a picture of our main hallway bulletin board created by our third grade students. This year they focused on notable Native Americans and learned about how totem poles were made and what they represent. They learned about Irena Bedard, Joy Harjo, John Herrington, Billy Mills, Deb Haaland, and others. The bulletin board has been a bright addition to the hallway with some great information for our students. Thank you third grade students!!

Students in Environmental Club came up with the idea to recycle candy wrappers again this year after Halloween. They brought in boxes, decorated them, placed them all around the school and then collected the boxes filled with candy wrappers.  They also made daily announcements to remind students to recycle their candy wrappers.  Finally, they went through all the wrappers to make sure they were clean, and squished them into the box to mail into the Rubicon Company Trash or Treasure program to be recycled.

Message Mr. Ontiveros

Happy December Roadrunner families,

As we say goodbye to November and a month of gratitude, we head into December with a focus on giving and goodwill. One thing that stands out to me here at Forest Road is the number of parents and community members who give their time to our kids and our school. We are very lucky to have such a supportive group that comes into our building each day as paraprofessionals, substitute teachers, art enrichment volunteers, mystery readers, and a host of other roles. It’s certain to say, without their caring commitment to give their time, our Roadrunners wouldn’t have the experiences they do each and every day.

Have a great weekend!

Mr. Ontiveros
