Roadrunner

Message from Mrs. Stamer

What an Awesome first couple of days of school!  This is my 6th year at Forest Road and my 4th year as the principal. This year was the smoothest arrival and dismissal I have seen. On the first day, students arrived, found their lines and were ready to enter the building at the first bell. At the end of the day, students were packed up, ready to go and dismissed safely. During the first few days of school I had a chance to visit all of the classrooms. Students were smiling and eagerly waving as I entered the room. I heard classes going over routines, students and teachers sharing summer stories, classes reviewing expectations and setting working agreements. Students were engaged and excited to be in school. I’m looking forward to all the wonderful days we have together!

This year we are re-establishing our Forest Road School Agreement and classes have been and/or will be taking time to discuss the meaning of each part of the agreement. We recite the agreement each morning after the pledge of allegiance. Here is the agreement…

Message from Mr. Ontiveros

Happy Friday Forest Road Families,

While our first week back was certainly a hot one, it was successful nonetheless. I was excited  to see our students and families out and about during morning arrival. It was also great to see many of our newest Roadrunners making new friendships and becoming more familiar with our school. I’ve noticed as students and teachers walk past my office, they’ve been working hard to keep the hallways at Forest Road a safe place to be.

Keeping safety in mind, we have a couple of reminders for arrival and dismissal. Please refrain from parking in the lot as it is for staff only. This helps keep our students safe by minimizing the traffic going in, out, and around the school. Also, during dismissal, please continue to wait behind the painted yellow line on the blacktop. This prevents crowding around the doors and allows our teachers to see the families of their students.

We appreciate you helping to make the start of the school year a success...enjoy the weekend!

Mr. Ontiveros

Athletics - CPCFRO

CPCFRO is an athletics program within District 102 that introduces volleyball and basketball to 5th and 6th graders. The program's goal is to introduce the basic skills of each sport, get the children excited about playing, and allow for the inclusion of all kids in our district. All the teams within CPCFRO (Congress Park, Cossitt, Forest Road, and Ogden) are coached by parent volunteers, and the games are refereed by IHSA referees. While we keep score during the game, we do not keep track of wins/losses... the focus is strictly instructional and for the kids to HAVE FUN!!  Each team will play 7-8 games and receive a team shirt. The cost to participate is $40/player.  The fall session is September to November with 5th and 6th grade girls playing basketball and 5th and 6th grade boys playing volleyball.  Registration will be able September 1st-15th.  A link to registration will be sent thru email and on a future PTO newsletter.
