Roadrunner

Message from Mrs. Stamer

We had another great week at Forest Road. There were smiling children and a lot of learning going on. First grade is getting ready for their reader’s theater. Second grade is working on their personal narrative and counting money in math. Third grade started new math groups for unit three. Fourth grade started their book groups and completed their unit on the life cycle of mealworms (the kids loved the beetles). Fifth grade started learning about the 13 colonies. Sixth grade began an argumentative unit and had a debate on whether or not video games are bad for you. There is no stopping the kids and their learning at Forest Road, they are eager and continuing to learn each day. Students, staff and parents…keep up the good work, the hard work and the fun work!

It is the time of year when we are starting our Winter District Assessments. This is a time for our students to show what they’ve learned and an opportunity for us to see what direction we need to go with instruction. Recently the district sent out communication regarding PowerSchool as a communication tool teachers use. There were two videos I found to be useful and I wanted to reshared the videos in case you missed them in the district communication. There is one on accessing your student’s grades in PowerSchool and one on understanding your student’s grades in PowerSchool. Both are linked below.

Message from Mr. Ontiveros

Beginning Monday, January 8, 2024, families of our bus students will have access to FirstView, a bus tracking app from our district's transportation partner, First Student. The mobile phone app will allow families to receive information regarding their child's bus route and location.

Currently, FirstView is being piloted at Park Junior High. After the new year, elementary schools will be able to utilize the app.

More information will be available in our final newsletter before the break. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Mr. Ontiveros
