50th

The Forest Road Class of 1974 reunited the weekend of August 23, 2024, bringing together a close-knit group of classmates in five decades. With 108 students in the graduating class, many who reconnected through Facebook joined for a special weekend, reuniting with old friends and sharing stories and memories of their school years.

Ahead of the dinner, four class members attended a tour of their old school, which sparked a series of waves of nostalgia (Pictured left to right: Gary M., Kim M., Steve K., and Mike L.). The group reminisced about the building’s original architecture, recalling the now-removed auditorium that had been the backdrop for many key events, from plays, music performances, and assemblies.

As they walked the halls, old stories came flooding back, like the cherished tradition of exchanging friendship bracelets and the influence of memorable teachers who shaped their early lives. A highlight of the tour was learning about the legacy projects each 6th-grade class now completes at the end of the school year, leaving a lasting mark on the building and carrying forward a tradition of creativity and community. Other memories included their valiant efforts in climbing the gym rope or visiting the library to check out books of their interests, many of which they carried throughout their adult life.

All the classmates were excited to reunite over dinner at Palmer’s in the local La Grange area, where they continued to celebrate their shared history and the bonds they’ve maintained over the years. View the full photo album here.
