Congress Park Dolphin Newsletter

11.15.24

Dear Congress Park Community,

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Renew D102 tour on Wednesday! We loved sharing our vision and progress with you, and we appreciate your interest and support as we work together to enhance our school community.

Enjoy the exciting updates below from our CP students:

In 6th grade, students have wrapped up a unit on Rates and Ratios and are now exploring percentages in math. They're also learning the steps of the scientific method through hands-on experiments. 5th graders are approaching the end of their Historical Perspectives unit, engaging in valuable discussions to challenge their worldviews. 4th grade students enjoyed a memorable field trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo, where they explored animal structures and survival strategies. 3rd graders immersed themselves in Mexican culture with a field trip to the National Museum of Mexican Art, topped off with tamales and conchas. Meanwhile, 2nd grade kicked off a new unit on plants and animals and a math unit on place values, with thanks to room parents for a fantastic Halloween celebration. 1st graders look forward to a fun outing to Tivoli Theatre to see Elephant and Piggie. In Kindergarten, students have been exploring weather. They have learned about types of weather, weather patterns, the seasons, and how to prepare for different conditions. In Specials, students in 2nd, 4th, and 6th grades are beginning their artwork for the Winter Concert, and the popular Axolotl t-shirt art fundraiser will launch on 11/18!

Kind regards,

Amy Grieve

Winter Concert

Hello 2nd, 4th, 6th grade and Chorus families!

The Winter Concert is approaching!

Your child has access to a Winter Concert Google Classroom page with practice materials to use to prepare for the concert outside of music class! Please follow the steps below to help your child access the Google Classroom page:

  • Have your child log into their school Gmail account. Their login information is either taped to their computer, or they will know it.

  • Open the email from Mr. Fontanetta with the subject "WINTER CONCERT GOOGLE CLASSROOM PAGE".

  • Tap the blue "Join Class" button.

  • If it prompts you for a class code, the code is qziyihd.

  • Scroll down the Google Classroom page until you find your child's grade level in bold print (example: 2nd Grade). There you will find recordings, materials, and steps to follow to practice on their own.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Fontanetta. More information will be coming soon!

Cheers!

LeaderShop Thanksgiving Program

On Monday and Tuesday the week of Thanksgiving, the LeaderShop is hosting Kid Enrichment Days for all members of our community. This is a great way to provide additional learning and social opportunities in a supervised environment.

For these two events, attendance is FREE and transportation is FREE! Additionally, students do NOT need to have attended LeaderShop program before to register! Although we are suspending our programs at the end of the semester, it is our mission to continue providing as much service to our community as possible until then.
